The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 Western film directed by John Sturges. It stars Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn as gunfighters hired to protect a small village in Mexico from a group of marauding bandits. It was both a critical and commercial success, and has been appraised as one of the greatest films of the Western genre.

A bandit terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for gunmen to defend them. They end up with 7, each of whom comes for a different reason. They must prepare the town to repulse an army of over 100 bandits who will arrive wanting food. Cinema club is a special monthly *members only* movie night. We put up the big screen and play whatever movie was chosen the month before. The range is wide, with classics and more modern both being shown. It’s a fun and social night but thanks to covid, we’re not currently able to serve refreshments. Feel free to bring your own though.

Tickets are $10 for members and the first movie is FREE if you join or renew your membership (which you can do on the night if you like).

As per covid guidelines, masks are recommended but not compulsory.
